Lukid
No one knows exactly what happened to Lukid in the summer of 2010, but anyone close to him will tell you that this is when the changes started to become apparent. The silences, the distant stares, the increasingly more pronounced facial tic, the kicking of things. The happy young beat-crooner that his friends and family had grown to know and love had vanished in the twitch of an eye, and in his place stood a colder, angrier, flinchier Lukid. It was at this point that Glum decided to sign him. Having previously released two albums, plus tax, on the renowned Werk Discs label alongside Actress, Lone and Zomby, and with remixes on labels such as Ghostly International and Black Acre, Lukid’s more tranquil offerings of the past are now departed from in emphatic fashion, presenting the world with four tracks of raw Chicago House and Grime inspired dancefloor music. Lukid's first Glum release, 2010’s ‘Boxing Club’ / ‘Blind Spot’ double-header, trod similar epic, brooding, rolling, expanded low end north London techno territory, and received support from artists such as The Black Dog, Falty DL, Actress and Grovskoper. ‘Spitting Bile’ is a name not to be forgotten, and confusion is good. Let the record show it thus. (Sincerely, GLUM)
