Pillow Talk
PillowTalk continue to impress with their unique body of sounds on the latest Wolf + Lamb release. Masters of weaving a variety of styles and influences with sumptuously nostalgic live vocals, this debonair San Fran trio is fast becoming a prolific force on the global scene. It’s difficult to pigeonhole the PillowTalk sound since its purveyors are such experts in playful eclecticism. Shifting the tempo and joining the dots from retro soul leanings to deeper electronic, PillowTalk is a melting pot of influences and voices that takes you on a new ride with each sonic wave. Bursting with original vocal flair, The ‘Far From Heaven EP’ is a steamy four-tiered affair, between the sheets and under the disco ball where tales of lust and desire unfold to soundtrack of 80s sex music and soulful house. The B-side is more dancefloor orientated with ‘Far From Home’ immediately bringing the deep house funk with jazzy organs and a purposeful groove as a pitched down housey vocal cascades over warm atmospheric pads. In ‘Street Walker’ a retro soul vocal gives a sweetly melodic edge, set off against a raw off-kilter bassline, galloping hi-hats and cavernous horns. Shining with ingenuity, the multi-layered ‘Far From Heaven EP’ will leave you wanting to listen all over again. PillowTalk is the fresh new click out of California’s Bay Area. Formed in San Francisco’s famed Lower Haight, its members Sammy D, Ryan Williams and Michael Tello are no strangers to the scene. With over 50 years of combined experience and already having quit the party throwing and spinning, these “Ravelords” decided it was about time to
