High school senior Summer Florine is restricted from dating and hanging out with a student her age named Ollie Pearl, who's under the same restriction as her. Summer and Ollie's dads are enemies, and the cause of them becoming enemies is unknown. One day, Summer decides to break the restriction and hang out with Ollie. When Summer begins dating Ollie, she comes up with a plan to keep her relationship with him a secret. But when the plan fails and disaster strikes Summer and Ollie's lives, Summer realizes her life and society aren't going to be the same again. But as things get even more disastrous, Summer must find hope to end the war before it's too late.
